a contemporary cookbook, where cooking becomes ritual.
Burnt Edges began with a simple idea: to give recipes the care usually reserved for something precious. It isn’t a list of instructions but a curated collection of dishes, each one chosen, photographed and told without hurry by people who see cooking as an aesthetic gesture too. The name pays tribute to the imperfect detail: the burnt edge that shows the heat of the oven and the hand behind every plate. That is where Burnt Edges finds its elegance.
identity, experience and design by 2442 Studio.
2442 Studio shaped Burnt Edges from start to finish, covering the visual direction, the user experience and the build. We wanted a site that feels like browsing a collector’s edition, with an editorial rhythm, striking imagery and typography that gives the content room. Every page is meant to make you want the dish before you’re even hungry.
quiet tools in service of the craft.
Burnt Edges goes with you all the way to the stove. Choose the number of guests and the quantities adjust on their own. Cook Mode turns each recipe into a clean, distraction-free guide you follow one step at a time. Every recipe can also be printed in a dedicated A4 or A5 layout, a card worth keeping.
an editorial platform that runs on its own.
New recipes go live the moment they’re published, with no technical work needed, so the collection can keep growing. A built-in fallback keeps the existing recipes on the site even if the content source stops responding, so the experience is never interrupted.
